God the Father has revealed Himself to us as the Creator of the world and its Preserver, to whom the entire creation and all God created Adam and Eve in His image to live in fellowship with Him. They fell into sin through the temptation of Satan and thereby lost fellowship with God. Through their disobedience the entire human race became totally depraved, that is, self-centered sinners who oppose God, and who by nature are unable to trust, fear or love Him. They are subject to the devil, and are condemned to death under the eternal wrath of God. Jesus Christ, the Eternal Son, is the image of the invisible God. To accomplish our redemption, He became fully human, being conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus Christ, who is true God and true man, by His perfect obedience and substitutionary death on the cross, has purchased our redemption. He arose from the dead for our justification in the body in which He was crucified. He ascended into heaven, where He is now seated at the right hand of God, the Father, as our interceding High Priest. He will come a second time personally, bodily, and visibly to gather the believers unto Himself and to establish His millennial kingdom. He will judge the living and the dead and make an eternal separation between believers and unbelievers. His kingdom shall have no end.  The Holy Spirit is a Divine person eternally one with the Father and with the Son. His ministry is to call, to regenerate repentant sinners, to sanctify believers and to preserve them in the one true faith. He guides and comforts the children of God, directs and empowers the Church in the fulfillment of the great commission, and “convicts the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment”. The knowledge and benefit of Christ’s redemption from sin is brought to the human race through the means of grace, namely the Word and the sacraments. **a.** Through the Word of the Law God brings sinners to know their lost condition and to repent. Through the Word of the Gospel He brings sinners to believe in Jesus Christ, to be justified, to enter the process of sanctification, and to have eternal life. This occurs as the Holy Spirit awakens them to see their sin, convicts them of their guilt of sin, and calls them to repent and believe, inviting and enabling them to accept God’s grace in Christ. Each one who thus believes is instantly forgiven and credited with Christ’s righteousness. The Word then teaches and guides the believer to lead a godly life. **b.** In the Sacrament of Baptism, God offers the benefits of Christ’s redemption to all people and graciously bestows the washing of regeneration and newness of life to all who believe. God calls the baptized person to live in daily repentance, that is, in sorrow for sin, in turning from sin, and in personal faith in the forgiveness of sin obtained by Christ. By grace we are daily given the power to overcome sinful desires and live a new life in Christ. Those who do not continue to live in God’s grace need to be brought again to repentance and faith through the Law and Gospel. Because the sinfulness of human nature passes on from generation to generation and the promise of God’s grace includes little children, we baptize infants, who become members of Christ’s believing church through baptism. These children need to come to know that they are sinners with a sinful nature that opposes God. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, they need to confess their sinfulness and yield to God; and possess for themselves forgiveness of their sin through Jesus Christ, as they are led from the faith received in infant baptism into a clear conscious personal faith in Christ as their Lord and Savior and being assured of salvation, rely solely on the finished work of Christ, and the power of the Gospel to live as children of God. **c.** In the Sacrament of Holy Communion, Christ gives to the communicants His body and blood in, with, and under the bread and wine. He declares the forgiveness of sin to all believers, and strengthens their faith. Eternal salvation is available to every living human being on earth by God’s grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. This salvation consists of an instantaneous aspect and an ongoing, continual aspect. **a.** Justification is God’s gracious act by which He, for Christ’s sake, instantaneously acquits repentant and believing sinners and credits them with Christ’s righteousness. At that moment, God gives each one who believes a new and godly nature and the Holy Spirit begins the process of sanctification. There is no place for human effort in justification. **b.** Sanctification is God’s gracious, continual work of spiritual renewal and growth in the life of every justified person. Through the means of grace, the Holy Spirit works to reproduce the character of Christ within the lives of all believers, instructing and urging them to live out their new nature. The Holy Spirit enables believers more and more to resist the devil, to overcome the world, and to count themselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. The Holy Spirit produces spiritual fruit in and bestows spiritual gifts upon all believers. He calls, empowers and equips them to serve God in the home, in the community, and as part of the Church Universal. The process of sanctification will be complete only when the believer reaches glory. The Church Universal consists of all those who truly believe on Jesus Christ as Savior. The local congregation is an assembly of believers in a certain locality among whom the Gospel is purely taught and the sacraments are rightly administered. The confessing membership of the local congregation shall include only those who have been baptized into “the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” confess personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, maintain a good reputation in the community and accept the constitution of the Church of the Lutheran Brethren. It cannot, however, be avoided that hypocrites might be mixed in the congregation; that is, those whose unbelief is not evident to the congregation.  The Church of the Lutheran Brethren practices the congregational form of church government and the autonomy of the local congregations. The office of pastor and elder is to be filled by men only. The synodical administration has an advisory function as it relates to the congregation, and an administrative function as it relates to the cooperative efforts of the congregations. The Lutheran Confessions are a summary of Biblical Doctrines to which we adhere. They are the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Athanasian Creed, the Confession of Augsburg and Luther’s Small Catechism. We are called by the love of Christ to share His Gospel. We begin with music all together then split into the appropriate classes for prayer, a time of studying and learning about God’s Word, and an activity or craft related to the Bible lesson. We invite you to come and enjoy fellowship around God's Word. **Confirmation:** During Sunday School. Contact the office for more information. Confirmation is a two-year training program for students in 7th and 8th grade. This program consists of workbook assignments, classroom instruction, and a final oral examination. Confirmation focuses on diving into the Word of God to understand deep theological topics and beliefs of the LB Church including: the sacraments, The Apostle’s Creed, and The Lord’s Prayer. Please contact the office if you are interested in this special opportunity for your child to grow in their knowledge and understanding of The Bible. **Junior Worship:** during the worship service 11:15am – 11:55am At the beginning of the service, children age 3 through 1st grade will be dismissed for Jr. Worship. Our teachers prepare lessons to break down Bible lessons appropriately for young children and spend this time with them so that parents can focus on the sermon during the worship service. Children will be brought back into the service before it ends to rejoin their families. Parents are welcome to use our nursery off of the main foyer for babies and toddlers. The nursery features a crib, changing table, rocking chairs, and books and toys, as well as speakers so that you can still listen to the worship service and sermon. Please see an usher if you need assistance at any time. Faith Kids is a mid-week Bible teaching program for kids in 2nd through 6th grade.  A typical night includes music, a Bible lesson with a focus on a specific scripture passage, and a craft or an activity related to the lesson. Weather permitting, we also have outdoor free play. Faith Kids runs from September through May following the school calendar, in relation to vacation breaks. This timing allows for parents interested in the Wednesday Night Adult Bible Study to attend while their children are in Faith Kids. **Chimes Practice:** Seasonally, Wednesdays, 6:00pm – 6:30pm Children will learn to play chimes or bells together. LET US NOT GIVE UP MEETING TOGETHER, AS SOME ARE IN THE HABIT OF DOING, BUT LET US ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER - AND ALL THE MORE AS YOU SEE THE DAY APPROACHING. # **MISSIONAL COMMUNITY** ### Faith Lutheran Brethren Church Life Groups are an essential part of our church, as they provide a place where deeper fellowship and better support for one another can take place. Considering that the early church worshipped in large settings in the synagogues as well as in homes, we unite together similarly in order to be in deeper fellowship with God and one-another. God has reconciled us not only to Himself but also to each other. This "each other" is called His Church. Thus, we intentionally strive toward community through men's/women's groups, home gatherings, and other personal settings. We have been created to live in community and not in isolation. Physically, we do live in a community, but spiritually, socially, and relationally we often live our lives in isolation. We find ourselves with no one to turn to when we have a major issue that has just surfaced in our life. Living in community affords us the opportunity to more wholly experience God through close relationships as we play and pray together, as we encourage and help one another, and as we study and live out God’s word together. We believe the church is the family of God called to live on mission to advance His Kingdom. Because we are God's children through Jesus, we are to live as brothers and sisters. The church is not a building, place, or program, but God's people. Living in community with one another is essential to growing in the Gospel and becoming more like Christ. Showing up to a Sunday gathering is great, but it is our desire to see everyone involved in a Missional Community. A Missional Community is not a mid-week program, but a family of missionary servants who are making disciple-making disciples daily. We would love to see all of our Missional Communities hanging out throughout the week, eating meals together and serving their neighborhoods. It is not something you check off a list, but a way of doing life. Currently, we have seven Missional Communities and are multiplying continually. It was originally located in Scarsdale and held its first service on October 8, 1967. A nursery-school program, the Little School began in 1972.   We are passionate about knowing Christ and sharing His message with the world. The Board of Elders responsible for the spiritual direction and well-being of the congregation. The Board consists of the Pastor and Elders. Elders are elected to serve 3-year terms.   The Board of Trustees is responsible for the management of the church’s physical and financial assets. The current Chair of the Trustee Board is Clarence Phipps. We are thrilled to be able to keep this ministry free, and would like to thank all of our generous donors from VBS 2024 who made this possible!* VBS is open to children ages 4 (by 12/01/25) through those entering 6th grade. This program begins each morning with an opening assembly which consists of music, a skit or video, and announcements. Each grade level group then rotates through our six stations: Crafts, Bible Lesson, Application, Recreation, Snack, and Music. We end by joining together for a closing assembly before dismissal. ***We also will be having a Closing Program Friday evening at 7:00pm.*** ***We invite family and friends to join us as the children share what they learned during the week. We provide a space where everyone can feel included and valued. **Join us for a time of learning, fun, and community!** Our Junior High Youth Group is specially designed for students in 6th-8th grade. We meet **every other Friday from 7:00-9:30pm** for a fun and engaging time together. To keep parents informed, we've set up a page on the “Band” app. This is where you can find our schedule and details about various events planned throughout the year. Our goal is for every student to discover who God is and understand His love for them in a safe and nurturing environment. We aim to help them grow in their relationship with God and build lifelong friendships. Our group includes students from multiple school districts, providing a chance to meet new friends from different schools in the area. **7:00pm - 8:00pm** **Opening Game:** We kick off the evening with a variety of fun group games, both indoors and outdoors. Remember to bring your sneakers! **8:00pm - 8:30pm** **Snack and Discussion Time:** Enjoy snacks while engaging in thought-provoking discussions in pairs. This is a great opportunity to get to know each other better. **8:30pm - 9:00pm** **Lesson and Small Groups:** Our leaders present lessons on diverse theological and biblical topics, highlighting their relevance to our lives today. After the lesson, we break into small groups for deeper discussion. **9:00pm - 9:30pm** **Closing Game:** We end the evening with a final game, wrapping up promptly at 9:30pm. Every fall, our Youth Group sells 1,400 pumpkins to raise funds. The Patch is open daily for 6-7 weeks, providing a great opportunity for youth to work together and engage with the community. Proceeds help reduce the cost of trips and activities throughout the year. Twice a year, we have a church lock-in where youth spend Friday night playing games, having snacks, and participating in a Bible lesson, followed by breakfast together on Saturday morning. In December, we join other churches in the tri-state area for a Christmas Banquet. Youth from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania gather for games, food, worship, and a speaker. It's a highlight of the year for making new friends and reconnecting with old ones. Held during Martin Luther King Day weekend at Tuscarora Inn and Conference Center in Mt. Bethel, PA, this event brings together youth from CT, NY, NJ, and PA for fellowship. Activities include dodgeball, volleyball, crafts, worship, and lessons. We depart Friday evening and return Sunday afternoon. In May, our church in Briarcliff hosts a rally for tri-state youth groups. The day features games, crafts, worship, a lesson, dinner, and a 6K walk fundraiser for World Vision to build wells in countries lacking clean water. Our Senior Youth Group provides a safe, welcoming environment for teens in grades 9-12 to gather every Saturday evening from 7:00-10:00pm. We encourage teens to grow in their relationship with the Lord, deepen their understanding of the Bible, and learn how it applies to their lives. Teens are also encouraged to support and pray for one another both on Saturday evenings and throughout the week. Youth Group is a time of fun and fellowship as we play games, share life experiences, and build lasting friendships. We meet at the church each Saturday from 7:00-10:00pm. For off-site activities, we still meet at the church and return there afterward. To keep everyone informed, we use the “Band” app to communicate with teens and parents. This fundraiser helps lower the cost of youth group activities and fosters connections between teens and adults. Held on the first Saturday in December at various (LB) churches, this event brings together youth from Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania for games, food, worship, and a speaker. It's a great time to renew and make new friendships. Taking place over Presidents' Day weekend at Tuscarora Inn in Mt. Bethel, PA, this event includes sports competitions, crafts, karaoke, games, and worship. Youth from RI, CT, NY, NJ, PA, OH, and FL attend, offering a chance to form new friendships. Teens experience a small part of what many children face daily by going without food for 30 hours. They also raise money for World Vision to combat world hunger. Usually in April, we travel to Lancaster County for a weekend trip. We watch a Bible story musical at Sight & Sound on Friday and spend Saturday at Hershey Park. Sunday includes fun activities and a smorgasbord lunch before heading home. Held the Saturday after Mother's Day at Briarcliff, this rally brings LB churches from NJ, CT, and PA together for games, activities, food, worship, and a speaker. We offer a variety of classes to meet your needs, from beginner to advanced. We also offer classes on a variety of topics, including the Bible, prayer, and Christian living. Our classes are taught by experienced teachers who are passionate about their faith and committed to helping you grow in your understanding of the Bible. **Wednesdays from 7:00pm-8:00pm:** Pastor Tony leads this Adult Bible Study.  We study a variety of subjects using different resources, while staying grounded in scripture.  All adults welcome and is also open to grade 9 and up This takes place before our worship service at 11am during the school year. Women of Faith is a ministry focused on the teaching, encouraging and fellowship of women in our church and community. Ladies Bible Study meets on Thursday mornings during the school year at 9:30am in the back of the sanctuary. Women In the Word meets several times a year.  We come on a Saturday morning at 9:30am and enjoy a nice brunch together.  We have time of fellowship as well as encouragement and teaching from God's Word.  We often have guest speakers as well. ($750 monthly)** ## The Little School Registration for the 2025-2026 School Year ### Faith Lutheran Brethren Church We are a Christian preschool offering an enriching and developmentally appropriate Early Childhood program for children ages 2 years through 5 years. The Little School is in session from September to June. Our school is housed in a beautiful church building. We have the use of the lower level which includes inviting and visually stimulating classrooms, a large playroom we call the "Big Room" and an outdoor age-appropriate playground. It is well equipped for our two to five-year-olds. Our teachers and teaching assistants are highly qualified, experienced and skilled in interactions with young children. They possess the qualities that are essential when relating to two, three, four and five-year-olds; patience, a sense of humor, compassion, sensitivity and love for your children. We teach the whole child and provide activities and experiences to help develop the mind, body and spirit. Activities at The Little School encourage group participation and individual creativity. Our goal is to help each child develop greater independence, social competence, and self-esteem by respecting their individual personalities and learning styles.  To accomplish our goals and encourage a love of learning, teachers plan a widely varied program, which includes a circle/ academic learning time, handcrafts, music, bible lessons, stories, language arts, exploration at different "learning centers", painting, drawing, indoor and outdoor play.   The Little School begins at 9:00am. Dismissal is at 12 noon except for our 2-year-old class which dismisses at 11:50am. For families enrolling at The Little School for the first time, a meeting with the child and parent is required prior to enrollment. Children are placed in an appropriate group based on age, ability and previous school experience. Our tuition is a yearly tuition rate which we divide into 10 equal payments. At time of registration, we require a $100 registration fee and a tuition deposit equal to one of the 10 (monthly) payments. The registration fee and the tuition deposit are non-refundable. At Faith Lutheran Brethren Church, we want everyone to be involved in music-making, whether in a choir, as an instrumentalist, or simply as a member of our most significant musical ensemble, the congregation! Our worship services are Christ-exalting, transformational, and display the unity of the Spirit. We strive for a balanced array of music that includes ancient and modern, eloquent and simple, familiar and new. We are guided by Colossians 3:16: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.” We have an active choir that rehearses during the school year on Sundays at 12:15 PM. We would love you to join us! We have 2 handbell choirs: The Joyful Sound Ringers (adults) and the Tower Bell Ringers (teenagers). Prior handbell experience is not required! The church welcomes opportunities for people to share their musical talents through special music performances. As a Lutheran Brethren congregation, our call is to present Jesus Christ to the Westchester County community and to provide an environment in which the Holy Spirit works his regenerating and renewing power in the believer. Our mission is to see each believer grow into their full stature in Christ and to equip each believer for the work of service to which the Holy Spirit has called and empowered them. Our mission includes joining with other congregations of the Lutheran Brethren Church exercising gifts of grace locally and in Home and World Missions. We strongly believe in local community involvement and outreach. We host Vacation Bible School every summer, where children from age 4 through 6th grade can have fun and participate in activities while also learning about our Lord Jesus Christ. We also participate in local events like the Briarcliff Community Day and have hosted several BBQ picnics. Our pastor is very engaged with the community and has served on a few committees. We continue to look for opportunities for local outreach. As part of the Church of the Lutheran Brethren (CLB), we have provided support for sending missionaries to Taiwan and Chad. Our Sunday service is at **11:00 AM** during the school year and **10:00 AM** during the summer. The service is livestreamed on our YouTube channel.
